STEIN UND STAUB (2020-2023)

The series examines the post-pandemic situation in my hometown of Havana. At its core is the question of how the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic have inscribed themselves into social structures, everyday practices, and political dynamics in the years that followed.
Particular attention is given to the social fractures that became visible after the pandemic, as well as to the ways state institutions have responded to these changes. These responses are often shaped by anachronistic models of order that fail to adequately address present conditions. This is reflected formally in the use of 35mm film that expired years ago and is partially affected by mold.
